Advance Care Planning Australia is very pleased to welcome Xanthe Sansome as our new Program Director. With a clinical background in physiotherapy, Xanthe became a research assistant and moved into end-of-life and advance care planning roles, eventually managing the Brisbane South Palliative Care collaborative which oversees the Queensland Office of Advance Care Planning.

She has also been involved with the national caring@home and caring@home for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families programs, and became a quality assessor for the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

She gained her Masters in end-of-life preferences of people aged over 85 through The University of Sydney. In her personal time, Xanthe enjoys spending quality time with her husband, four children and friends, walking, drinking great coffee and doing killer sudokus.

Xanthe is excited to embark on a new journey with ACPA and explains her passion for advance care planning: "Individuals' voices and choices about their own care matter and I am passionate about the person-centred nature of ACP. I desire to see people's wishes for their future and/or end-of-life care known and respected by those providing the care.”
